I’ve written quite a bit lately about how I’m breaking down my goals into shorter-term goals based on process more than results. It would be fair to say that it’s odd to call something Project “1900” if it’s supposed to be process rather than results oriented, but you have to call it something, so here we are.
So what else can be added to the workload without derailing the work I’m already doing?
I know I need to start including some endgame work, since, as I mentioned yesterday, the further up the rating ladder you make it, the more likely your games will end in strategic endgames more often than not.
To that end, I will start gradually working through this book.
Here is a position from the intro.
This is not a position from which one can grind. This is what you are hoping for when you have been grinding for a while. Why? Well, as you can work out from the ?? after the move, White has blundered into a losing position (you should still spend some time looking at the king and pawn ending) and will pay the price.
Time is limited, and endgames are pretty low on the priority list, but I can implement some work this way I think.
Til next time,
Chris Wainscott
Studying endgames will pay dividends for sure.
